with special guests Eagle Spirit Dancers & Singers

Marcus King, the youthful early twenty-one year-old, has made a huge splash on the blues and American roots scene. Raised in Greenville, South Carolina, King was brought up on the blues with both father and grandfather as well-known performance guitarists. Now a songwriter, guitarist, singer and bandleader, King has developed his own brand of “soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock” and is recognized widely in the blues world. King and his band have delivered two full-length LPs with their album The Marcus King Band (Fantasy Records) released in October 2016 holding steady in the top 15 of Billboard Blues Albums Chart in 2017. Marcus King is accompanied by Jack Ryan on drums, Stephen Campbell on bass, Justin Johnson on trumpet and trombone, Matt Jennings on organ and keyboards, and Dean Mitchell on saxophone. The band promises a great mix of big-band sound with a southern blues, roots vibe yet to be heard on the Lander LIVE stage.

Eagle Spirit Dancers and Singers

Eagle Spirit Dancers

Opening for The Marcus King Band will be the Eagle Spirit Dancers & Singers from the Shoshone Tribe on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Back by popular demand, a favorite of locals and visitors alike, the Eagle Spirit troupe brings out local cultural heritage sharing traditional dances from the Native American tribe. In addition to their performance leaders teach the audience about the costumes, wares, and meaning of each of the dances put together by the 40-some dancers. At the end of the performance the audience is encouraged to participate in a Community Dance getting all Lander LIVE participants up on their feet.
